Saul Alvarez said he will face Austin Trout on May 4th
WBC 154-pound champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30KOs) indicates that he will face WBA champ Austin Trout (26-0, 14KOs) in a unification fight on May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Trout had derailed a planned meeting between Canelo and Puerto Rican star Miguel Cotto, when he scored a twelve round unanimous decision last December in Cotto’s backyard of New York City. More info.
Alvarez definitely has skills, but he has been criticized for his 41 win record that is filled with under-par competition. Austin Trout will be his toughest foe, so this is his chance to prove he is as good as he believes. This should be a very competitive fight because Austin Trout has been waiting for a chance to prove his own self-worth, which will be Accomplished with a win against the younger Alvarez.
