What’s next for the P4P King?

Floyd defeated Marcos Maidana for the second time and will more than likely fight again next year in May. Looking at his performance in the ring, the turmoil outside the ring, what should be his next move and who should be his next opponent?

Floyd has defeated Maidana more convincingly this time around but seemed a little more distracted by outside entities than usual. From the situation with his ex-girlfriend to the chaos within his team, he seemed a little more rattled than usual.

Floyd is still ahead of the game with talent but at the very least, we might have witnessed a chink in his armor. I’ve always said that only Floyd and father time will beat him, and it looks like both are leaning on him.

Assuming he will fight at the welterweight limit, which I figure he will instead of going up to jr middleweight for various reasons, so the fights I see that could happen are:

Manny Pacquio:

I’M TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT THIS TOO!!! But this is still a fight that could get made even though there has been so much turmoil during previous negotiations. I think Floyd and Bob Arum of Top Rank, which I believe is the reason this fight has not been made, are both seeing this fight as now or never, so there is a chance that one side will sacrifice a little ego for a fat pay check.

Kell Brook:

He’s younger, he’s undefeated, he has a belt, and he’s coming off a signature win that has gained him fans.

Timothy Bradley:

He has tangoed with Pacquio twice, controversially besting him in the first fight but losing in the second. He has only one loss and has proven he has heart and the determination to win. He has a high work rate but lacks power, so I can see this being a favorable fight for Floyd and a big enough name to strike some interest.

Amir Khan:

I am not sure why he deserves this fight, but his name has been thrown around for far too long to not be considered. He is a slick fighter with speed and boxing skills that many believe could give Floyd problems. He seems to have a large following over in the UK, which means more money for Money.

There are a few others that are lurking: Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Devon Alexander, and others at the 154 pound level, but I think the ones mentioned above will have an easier time getting a fight with Floyd.

I’m not sure who lands this lucrative fight, but I’m sure Floyd and Al Haymon are considering all options. I’m curious to see if Floyd shows any other defects in his next bout and how he decides to finish off his legacy. I personally hope, and think, Pacquio is somewhere in the equation, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking!?!
