Andre Berto tests positive
Dan Rafael of ESPN reports: Former welterweight titleholder Andre Berto has tested positive for a banned substance, and his June 23 rematch with fellow former titlist Victor Ortiz has been canceled, according to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer.
Berto tested positive for the steroid norandrosterone, a source with direct knowledge of the test results told ESPN.com on Friday..More info.
This is the second big fight that has been canceled due to a banned substance! This year was shaping up to be one of the best years for boxing, but it slowly becoming a disgrace to the sport. We still have some good fights that are still scheduled and some that are in the process of being made, so lets hope this is the last black eye the sport receives this year!
