We live boxing 24/7!

Carl Froch is still the same fighter

Carl Froch beat an undefeated, over-hyped, untested Lucian Bute, so should I think he’s better? He also was given tons of motivation from the entire situation. Is he better? Or was Bute just that bad?

We tend to look at fighters as if they are as good as their last fight, but the reality of it is, these fighters are not necessarily better. Yes, some of them get better as their careers advance, and as the fights happen, but not all of them are as great as we see them in their fights.

So, that being said, do you think that Froch is better now? You think he can go into a fight with Mikkel Kessler and Andre Ward and win? He might muster up some magic to fight Kessler in his hometown, but what are we really looking at?

The way he lost to Kessler would/should have screamed rematch, but the fight he had with Ward was not like that. He was abused by Ward from the beginning to the end, in parts. Ward didn’t pitch a shut out, but he proved he was the rightful winner of the Tournament.

I’m not giving a prediction or anything, I’m just pointing at certain aspects that we tend to overlook as boxing fans. Carl Froch will be the same Carl Froch that lost against Kessler, the same that lost to Ward, but the same that beat Jermaine Taylor. He can beat certain styled fighters, but the 2 he lost to……He might lose to again.
