THE REMATCH

I just knew I would win

When I went in—I am an ape

I was pumped up, I saw his fight tapes

And he always drops his hand low

Exposing his weak chin

Gloves torched—I’m Thinking

This will quickly end (in my best commentator voice)

Then the bell rang-and the real fighting begins

I move in—played it a thousand times over in my head,

How would I start in?

He’d swing I’d duck, then I’d put this chump to bed,

But something happened—something I really didn’t foresee,

This Kat ducked…HE NEVER DUCKS!!!

And before I know it I am hearing the number 3

Oh—now I’m thinking he trying to steal a win,

So I get up at some number closer to ten,

Shook it off and decided

This shhhh just got real—I mean for real,

So now I gotta show this wanna be—who wanna be the real deal,

Gotta lay these holy steel hands on him…

So I was bobbing and weaving, jabbing and dancing—you know putting on a display,

I put on like Kanye and Sweet Weather in May

But you know that old saying:Every dog has his day,

I know that saying well, But I never thought that today would be that day

Because no matter what I did, he wouldn’t go away…NO HOW NO WAY

Ding, ding, The first is over now

Next thought is…he can’t survive

No way this chump trained half as hard as I

but Silly me—I couldn’t see the tiger in his eyes

And in a blink …round 2 was round 5

And he wasn’t just hanging around

This Kat was eating me alive

I got out of round 6 by the wonderful grace of God

Who is this dude? No! Really who is he?

My promoter told me, this would be a quick pay day

One that would be easy,

ROUND 7, THEN 8

I believe I found the answers

So now I’m pouncing on dude like a den of rabbit panthers,

I’m behind on the cards,

If he go down no way he’s rising from the canvas

1,2—1,2,3..step 1,2,3,4

I had him-he was mine-then along came the phantom

Damn it!!!

One could say I was too cocky—taking being undefeated for granted

Cuz whatever punch that was –it connected like a flight from JFK to ATL and landed

And all the strength in my legs along with the lights and roaring crowd noise just vanished

Couldn’t hear nothing, not even the foreign commentators in Spanish,

Just silence, like a dark empty room, just silence

When I came to, it was all over

I had just lost to a somebody, nobody, anybody Balboa

But it’s in the contract-so like the Terminator I’LL BE BACK

I will see him again in ….

THE REMATCH.
