Froch vs Bute Post Fight

The anticipation of this fight was electrifying, and the crowd at the Capital FM arena in Nottingham went crazy as Carl Froch and Lucian Bute finally made it in the ring. Both seemed calm and comfortable, which let me know this was going to be great fight, and when the bell rung you couldn’t do anything but smile and brace yourself.

The first round was a lot of feeling out, but Bute seemed to do a little better and was a little more comfortable.
In round 2, Carl Froch found his comfort zone and started landing the jab and the right hand.

Round 3 was the beginning of the end for Lucian Bute. Carl froch turned up the heat towards the middle of the round and never let up. Bute ended the round with his back on the ropes with Froch landing at will.

Round 4, Bute came out with a little more conviction and looked as if he corrected his mistakes by fighting a little more aggressively, but with about 30 seconds left in the fight, Froch lands another big shot sending Bute back on the ropes where he ended the round in similar fashion as round 3.

Carl froch picked up where he left off in round 4 almost immediately in round 5. Bute landed a couple punches here and there, but Froch seemed to have already decided his fate. He constantly stalked Bute around the ring until Bute couldn’t take anymore. The ref stopped the fight and declared a new IBF Super Middleweight Champ.

Carl Froch defeated Lucian Bute via 5th round TKO.

If you read my prediction (Click here if you haven’t) you know that I had Bute winning by SD, but that I stressed that we really did not know what Bute could take and that he would be at disadvantage if Froch turned it into a dog fight. I thought Froch would apply pressure too late, but he jumped on him early.

This was a good fight for boxing, and there is a rematch clause in the contract, so we should see the rematch in Canada.
