How much does advertising affect you?

I ask this because I have seen it really alter casual fans decision about fights, but what about you hardcore fans? Does it make you see something that’s not there or change your decision that you later regret?

I have been persuaded by advertisements before in the past, but I try not to even pay attention to the hype, but I must admit….it can still get to me every now and again because I’m an optimistic person.

A few of the fights that pulled me in that I kicked myself afterwards because I knew better are:

Manny Pacquio vs Ricky Hatton…Yup..

Devon Alexander vs Timothy Bradley Jr

Shane Mosley vs Ricardo Mayorga

Shane Mosley vs Manny Pacquio

Wladimir Klitschko vs Lamon Brewster 2/ Tony Thompson/ Sultan Ibragimov.. and more, of course..

At the end of a fight I want to say/hear statements like: “WOW, What a fight!” or “Man! He displayed true skills!” or “D*mn! Did you see that!?!”

These particular fights were fights where we were persuaded into believing that there would be…..well, entertainment. Now I do like a great KO, but as far as the Pacquio vs Hatton fight, Floyd Sr seemed to have a great plan to beat Pacquio, but who knew Hatton would almost immediately convert back to his old style of fighting?

The other fights were just promoted to the point where my optimism was triggered and I started thinking “MAYBE! Maybe this person, whom I had already knew was no match style wise against the other fighter, will actually show up and have a great chance at winning.

I am better now because of the trickery, and I plan to continue to not be altered by these great promoters and look deep into these fighters skills, heart, past, and any circumstances that I see.

I’ve been pretty good at predicting since then and we will really see how good I am after tomorrow when Manny Pacquio fights Timothy Bradley Jr..Because people are giving Tim a shot, but I say he gets murdered! I believe he has the tenaciousness but lacks the power and the knowledge to change after he gets hit! I’m not talking Kendal Holt Power, I’m talking the constant punching power from arguably the best fighter in the world! Let’s see how good I am!
